Many years ago, we did a private sale for the former home of Norma Talmadge, the silent movie actress, who was in films from 1910 to the advent of the talkies in 1929-1930. She was married to Joseph Schenck, an early executive MGM New York in 1917 during WWI. Soon after, moving to California, they lived in ‘The Cedars’ or the estate they used in the film ‘Easy Rider’ on Cedarhurst Drive. There were many items there belonging to the couple and we sold them for the owner at the time there some 18 yrs. ago. This home in Los Feliz contains pieces that we sold there. Those items are an 8’-9’ tall floor Eastlake mirror, and a 32” stone Corinthian column (owned by Norma Talmadge), a pr. of crystal floor ash trays, & a pr. of crystal lamps (owned by owners after her residency there)…all original from the Cedars house and left through several owners. Terrific Hollywood History!

The rest of this sale is filled with gorgeous things from years of collecting, painting & decorating. So, along with many gorgeous oil paintings by the owner who has shown in Europe, & other artists, you will find framed movie posters that he has worked on. There are two antique swords and a dagger. Swords are Toledo, Spain an ornamental without scabbard. The other is a gorgeous and intimidating Japanese Samurai sword with scabbard. The dagger looks like it is Moroccan. All collectible and pricey.

There are 19th-20th C. signed opium bottles in bone & wood, cinnabar, bejeweled stones, porcelain (no stopper), enamels, & a fabulous amber bottle w/silver overlay (no stopper). Also, 3″ miniature Geishas vase w/view turner,  3″white jade horse & monkey figurine on base, pr. antique & signed Chinese incense burners, vintage reproduction Chinese gilt temple bowl w/4 feet, a stunning yellow jade w/freshwater pearls necklace, 18″ carved stone tusk w/Chinese noblemen, 19th C. 5″ Chinese tea pot, Kwan Lin amber figurine, carved turquoise block Chinese figurine, fine signed vintage ceramic bowl.

Yellow soapstone pieces include– Chinese woman nobility figurine & nude Chinese sea woman figurine.

Qing Chinese Dynasty River Jade Carvings– 6″ Diety Angel, 5″ Diety Bat or Cobra, 3″ Medicinal Bowl, & 12″ Diety Goat.
